Хакери зламали офіційний сайт президента Кенії, вимагаючи викуп у біткоіни

On July 18, 2026, the official website of Kenyan President William Ruto was hacked, displaying a ransom note demanding five bitcoins. The hackers replaced the homepage of President.go.ke with a message and provided a cryptocurrency wallet address, threatening to release undisclosed information if the ransom wasn’t paid. Information and Communications Minister Williams Kabogo confirmed the cyberattack, stating that cybersecurity teams were responding. By Saturday afternoon, the compromised homepage was removed, and the site went offline, but services remained unavailable. Concerns about cybersecurity in Kenyan government institutions resurfaced, following several past cyberattacks.
